I just read about an interesting scientific experiment.  In this study, at selected NYC speed-dating events, the men would move from table to table when the bell goes.   At others, the women would rotate.  This study claims that when women do the rotating, then they pick more people, and as men often make a lot of selections (whether they are rotating or not), then this resulted in more matches.  So in short, when women rotate, there are more matches for everyone!

What do you think?  We used to have men rotate in the first half, and women rotate in the second half. This was because it's nice to have a change of scene, and approaching someone's table is creates an interesting new dynamic versus having someone come into your space.  But women contacted us to say that men should always do the moving from table to table, as the women have lot of gear with them.  We've also had the comment that women like to see the man standing and walking to their table - that way they get to see how tall they are.

I think the conclusion of the study was that women feel more empowered when doing the rotating, and therefore feel more positive and more inclined to pick people.
