| About Our Events |
- If I am too late to join, will I get a refund or credit?
| While we try to be as reasonable as possible in every circumstance, it is important to remember that like any other ticketed event, we have a limited number of tickets to be sold for each event. So if you buy a ticket and then either don't show up or show up too late to join in, we will not be able to offer a refund or credit, this is necessary to help ensure we have a balanced number of men and women at our events.There are occasionally circumstances which are beyond the control of anyone which may make it impossible for you to attend or that you arrive late, if you feel such a situation exists please contact us and we will review the situation and make a judgment on a case by case basis. |
- Do you provide food at the events?
| Many of the venues that host our events do provide light snacks or appetizers for our participants during the event break, however not all of our venues are equipped to do so. We do not control the type or amount of appetizers provided by the venue, they are a courtesy from the venue and as such we can't promise that they will be healthy or include options for all dietary preferences.Please also remember that the number of participants at our events can range from 24 to 100, so even when snacks are provided there likely won't be enough to provide a meal.The majority of our events run for about two to two and a half hours and can take quite a bit of energy, we recommend that you come prepared for the event, so if you need to grab a bite to eat before the event you should plan accordingly. |
- Why should I choose New York EasyDates?

- Which event is right for me?
| We offer three types of events. Our regular events give you ten to twelve dates of six minutes each, with a guarantee of at least ten dates or your next event is free. Our "Everyone Meets Everyone" events let you meet everyone in the room, so you'll usually get fifteen to twenty dates of about three minutes each. And our "Up to Forty Dates" events are a real speed-dating marathon. You'll have up to forty dates of just over two minutes each.So which event is right for you? If you want to meet as many people as possible, choose an "Everyone Meets Everyone" or "Up to Forty Dates" event. And if you want to spend a little longer getting to know each person, choose a regular event. |
- How strict are the age ranges?
| For the majority of our events, the age ranges are there as a guide only, and are not meant to stop you from attending an event that you feel comfortable attending. So if you're 2-3 years older or younger than the age range guidelines, that's fine. There are however some events that require us to restrict the ages of participants to ensure that the event functions correctly, but don't worry, in such cases our system won't let you register for the event if you are outside of the age range.We don't ask for ID at the door, but we highly encourage you to follow this guide to ensure you have the best possible speed dating experience. |
- Will I get a match?
| Most people at our events do match with at least one other person. If you don’t get a match, don’t be discouraged — quite likely you were chosen by people who you didn’t select. It's all about the numbers, so please sign up for another event and try your luck again. And if you don't get a match, your next event is half price. |
- Will I meet everyone at the event?
| If you want to meet everyone at the event, make sure you choose an "Everyone Meets Everyone" event. If you choose a regular event, you will have more time to get to know each person, but you may not meet everyone there. We do have time to mingle before and after the event, so you can meet anyone you've had your eye on. You can pick anyone as a match, whether you are paired with them for a speed date or not. |
- Isn't six minutes/three minutes a bit short?
| You may be surprised at how much you know after a short date. After all, you're not deciding if you want to marry this person - just whether you want to see them again for a full-length date. |
- When do I get my results?
| Shortly after the event you will receive an email notifying you that the selection process has begun, once you receive this email you can log on to our website and enter your selections. As soon as you do you'll see your initial match information. And then later, as more of our guests log on to enter their information, you'll get the rest of your matches. |
- What do I do once I have my match information?
| E-mail your matches and take it from there. No need to be shy — if you got their e-mail address, that means the person is interested in seeing you again. |
- Does this kind of thing really work?
| Yes, it really does. Some of us will find one in ten people romantically intriguing; some will choose only one from a hundred. Either way, it’s all about meeting lots of people in an environment that makes it easy to pick who you want to see again. That’s what we are here to provide. |
- Why do you have so many events where the men are older than the women?
| We've thought long and hard about this one, because we're quite aware that these events play into some traditional and old-fashioned - and yes, even sexist - ideas of who wants to date whom. But frankly, when we tried to run events for even age ranges (i.e., men and women of the same ages) it just didn't work. We found that the vast majority of the guys self-selected to events where they were in the upper half of the age range, and the women similarly self-selected to be in the younger end of the range. So, to put it simply, we gave in... Think we should do it differently? Please write and let us know - this is an issue we frequently reconsider. |
- What is a "single professional?"
| We leave that up to you. We get a lot of lawyers and bankers at our events (maybe because the company was started by a lawyer and a banker!) but we also get a great range of other professions, from teachers to social workers to artists to engineers. If you consider yourself a single professional, feel free to register for our events. |
- Do you have events for same-sex meetings?
| We have run events for men wishing to meet men, and women wishing to meet women. Currently we schedule these events about once every couple of months, but we would love to run them more frequently.Click here if you'd like to be notified when we schedule an event specifically for gay men or lesbians. |
- What about events for over 45s?
| We do have events for over 45 year olds - at most times you'll see at least one on our calendar. If you would like to see more of them posted, please e-mail us and let us know! |
- Do you host events outside Manhattan?
| Currently the majority of our events are being offered in Manhattan, however we do run events in Brooklyn and Westchester from time to time. We may consider adding other locations in the future. |
- Can I sue you for a bad relationship?
| Um, no. We do not screen participants, and unfortunately we cannot guarantee that your dates will lead to marriage, lost weekends, or whatever else you may have in mind. We bring you together to meet each other, and give you the contact information for your matches — you take it from there. |
- Can I leave if I don't like the women/guys?
| We ask that everyone stay until the end of the evening's rotations. If you leave, then one poor person goes without a date each round.We know that having a large number of dates in one night can be overwhelming, but remember, each person is a surprise package, and it's worth finding out if there is a connection.If you absolutely must leave, please do let the host know. |
- What should I wear?
| Our standard advice is to wear whatever you would feel comfortable wearing on an evening out with friends in the city. Most of our venues are casual and relaxed, however, it's still good to make a great first impression. It's best to err on the side of being too well-presented than the other way around! |

- Tell me more about the “Mini-Marathon” format
| With the growing popularity of our marathon events and the massive amount of feedback we've received, we know that some people just aren't up for meeting 30 to 50 singles in one night and want a little more time to get to know each of their dates.Based on the feedback we've received, we have developed new “Mini-Marathon” events which offer 20 or 25 dates each 4 minutes long.Our “Mini-Marathon” events are truly unique because we run two events at the same time in the same location. Once the speed dating rounds have finished for each group, all of the participants are combined for a mingling session. This means that in addition to the 20-25 singles you have dates with you will also have the opportunity to meet and mingle with another 20-25 singles.Like our Marathon events, these events are usually run on Saturday or Sunday and begin at 6:00pm or 6:30pm and include a free drink. |
- What different event formats do you offer?
| We’ve run more than 1,000 events across six years, so we know first hand that people like choice. Some like to have shorter dates so they can have more of them, and others would like to have a little more time with each person they meet. And some people want to try different formats, depending on how they feel at the timeWe offer three formats, and they are outlined in detail below. At our Regular format, you’ll have 10-12 dates, and at our Everyone Meets Everyone events, you’ll have between 10 and 20 dates. At our Marathon events, you’ll have between 30 and 50 dates. At all of our events, you’re guaranteed at least 10 dates or your next event is free. |
- Tell me more about the “Regular” 10 - 12 date format
| At this event, the host will run 10-12 dates of six minutes each. This format is good for those who like a little more time to chat with their dates.If there are more than 12 pairs, the host will probably still run just the 12 rounds, as this is what guests have signed up for. We recommend you take the opportunity during the break or at the end to chat to singles you may not have met on a date, and the hosts will be very happy to make introductions for you if you wish.Since our events often have more than 24 participants it is unlikely that you will meet everyone at this event. Our hosts will run enough dates to ensure that all participants meet 10 to 12 participants of the opposite gender, but if there are more than 15 pairs you will not have dates with everyone.If you prefer an event where you will meet all of the participants of the opposite gender, check out our “Everyone Meets Everyone“ events. |
- Tell me more about the “Everyone Meets Everyone” format
| At this event, the host will run as many rounds as they can so you meet as many singles as possible - you won't have less than 10 dates, but you may have many more! This format is good for those who like to have an organized introduction to all attendees, even if the date is a bit shorter.The time per date will be reduced as the number of guests increase, and at many events of this format, you could be having 20 dates of three minutes – so come with lots of energy! If there are 12 pairs, then each date will be around six minutes. |
- Tell me more about the “Marathon” format
| Our marathon format events have become extremely popular with New York singles and we've now run well over 100 of these events with an average of 90 to 110 single men and women at each event.Since introducing our marathon format we've developed a few variations – “Thirty First Dates” was the original and offered 30 dates of three minutes each. Since the original event we've introduced larger events including our our “Thirty-Five First Dates” and “Fifty First Dates” event, offering even more dates with great NYC singles in just one night.We know that talking to 30 to 50 singles in one night can work up a thirst so all of our marathon events include a drink in the price of the ticket.Please Note that these events start earlier in the evening, usually at 6:00pm or 6.30pm and usually take place on a Saturday or Sunday. |
- Singles happy hour events
| Not everyone wants to meet their dates at a speed-dating event. Some people prefer to choose who they would like to talk to and how long they want to talk to them for.At this relaxing and clock-free event, you'll meet a bunch of other fabulous singles without once hearing a bell. And if you're talking to a cute guy or girl, the host will not tell you to move on after six minutes!We have a huge database of NYC singles who receive invites to our events, and you won't be disappointed by the selection of singles at our happy hour events.And the great thing about joining a singles event with us is that we're the experts in throwing parties with a balance of men and women. So don't worry about turning up and seeing many more of your own gender than the one you want to meet - we won't let that happen!Plus, your first drink is on us! |

- I signed up for an event and now a friend gave me a discount code, can I get a refund?
| We're sorry but due to the costs of processing transactions we can not apply discounts to registrations that have already been processed, nor can we apply discounts that are offered after you have registered for an event. |
- Why do I have a charge from EasyDates on my credit card?
| We wish this was something we could aid you with, however if you have a charge on your credit card statement which appears as "EasyDates" or "Easy Dates", the charge is not from us.Credit card charges we process will show up on your credit card as "NY EasyDates" or "New York EasyDates" and should also include our toll-free telephone number. If another name is displayed, the charge is from them and they will need to help you resolve the problem.There are unfortunately more than a couple companies using the EasyDates moniker for online dating services.If you are unsure if a charge us from New York EasyDates, please contact us at questions@nyeasydates.com and our team will be happy to assist. We may even be able to help you track down the right company. |
- Can I register and pay over the phone?
| At this time we are not able to accept credit card payments over the phone. Our credit card processor requires that customers enter their credit card information personally, it can not be done by a 3rd party.Paying with a credit card online is very secure and if we were able to accept credits cards over the phone we would be entering your information over the internet just as you will be doing. Payments on our site are secured with high grade encryption which protects your information between your computer and our servers and from our servers to the credit card processor.In our 8 years of business we have never had a customer's credit card information compromised in any way and we work very hard to ensure that our track record continues. |
- What forms of payment do you accept?
| We accept most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) as well as payments through PayPal.com. We do not accept money orders or personal checks. |
- Can I just pay at the door?
| While we can understand why paying at the door may be appealing, in order to make our speed dating events successful for the participants we need to ensure a proper balance of men and women. In the past we have tried to be as accommodating as possible and have allowed participants to pay at the door however as these participants have no financial commitment many feel that they aren't required to attend and rather than let us know they simply don't show up. Although we can deal with small gender imbalances quite easily, not having adequate numbers is simply unfair to our customers.This does not mean that we won't accept payment at the door, in fact if we have room our hosts will gladly accommodate you, but we can not guarantee you a spot unless you register on our site using either your credit card or PayPal.Registering online is safe and secure, so don't pass up a chance to meet someone great, register today. |
- Is registering online safe/secure?
| Absolutely! Our registration system is protected by high grade SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption which encrypts information transmitted between your computer and our server such that it can not be intercepted and viewed by any other party.All of the information you submit during the registration process is secure during transmission and saved securely in an encrypted format in our database. None of the information you provide is ever transmitted in an unsafe manner, nor will we ever sell, rent or share your information with anyone for any reason.All servers and computers connected to our network are routinely scanned and certified to be compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI/DSS). In addition, our site is regularly scanned and certified by McAfee Secure. |
- What if I have to cancel?
| It has always been our aim to have as flexible and generous a cancellation policy as possible, as we know (especially in NYC) that things come up that make attendance impossible or difficult. We believe that our cancellation policy is the most generous of all speed-dating companies. For example, we are the only company that allows refunds, and we have a liberal approach to transfers to other events. However, because of the nature of speed-dating events, we must balance the numbers of men and women so that everyone who has paid to attend will be getting value for their money. Therefore it is essential for us to have a clear cancellation policy to discourage last second no-shows, and to ensure that each speed-dating event is a success.Please review our cancellation policy before registering for an event. |

| Making Selections/Getting Your Matches |
- I made my selections yesterday and haven't received any matches, why not?
| We know that everyone is anxious to find out who selected them after an event, but not everyone is able to submit selections immediately after the event. We cater to busy singles and many of our participants take a few days to submit their selections. The selection process is open for 7 days after the event to ensure that everyone has an adequate opportunity to make their selections. Since some participants take longer than others, you may get matches in the days that follow the event when the other participants make their selections.So if you haven't received matches after a day please don't feel that you won't get any, give it some time. |
- When can I make my selections?
| Usually you can log in and make your selections right after the event. If we have last-minute additions to add to the list, you may have to wait an hour or two. You will receive an email to let you know when you can make your selections, or you can log on to "My Account" at any time to check. |
- How do I enter my selections?
| Log in to "My Account" using your email address and password. Once logged in, you will be prompted to select who you would like to see again. When you choose someone and they choose you, that's a match! You'll get an email with their name and contact information. In case the match email ends up in your spam file, you can also check your match information any time by logging into "My Account." |
- Can I change my selections after I make them?
| You can add to your selections for 7 days after an event. However, you cannot take away selections you've already made. That's because we just can't bring ourselves to tell someone that they have been "unselected!" |
- I didn't get an email with my matches - why not?
| Usually this means that the email went into your spam file. Please add questions@nyeasydates.com to your list of safe senders, to make sure you receive all emails about your events. And you can also get your match information any time by logging into "My Account." |
- Why does the website say 'still waiting on some customer selections'?
| We give everyone seven days after the event to make their selections. You'll see most of your results sooner than this, as we post the selections as soon as they come in. |
- Do I have to submit selections if I don't want to select anyone?
| Though it is a rare occurrence, it may be possible that you attend an event and don't meet anyone that you wanted to see again. While we hope that you don't find yourself in this situation, if it happens we do not require that you submit selections. We do however ask that you sign into the member's area and when you are asked to make selections find the line that reads "Didn't meet anyone you want to see again? Click here" and click the link. This will update our database and ensure that you don't get any notices about making selections. |
- What happens if I don't get any matches?
| Though most participants are likely to receive at least one or two matches, it is possible that you may not receive any matches or perhaps you chose not to select anyone. If you do not receive any matches at one of our events you are entitled to receive a discount equal to 50% off your next speed dating event with us. To receive your discount code just wait until all participants have submitted their selections (7 days) and then visit the "My Matches" page of the member's area. Below the line that indicates you did not receive any matches you will find a link that says "sign up at a discount", just click this link and you will be presented with a discount code (it will also be emailed to you).The discount code provided is valid for any regularly priced speed dating event on our calendar for up to 1 year after the event. These discount codes are not valid for special events such as our singles happy hour mixers.Discounts are only provided for events where you paid regular price to attend. Events that you attended as our guest, or where you used a discount from a previous event will not offer the chance to obtain a discount.If you have any questions about our discount policy please contact us and we would be happy to answer your questions. |

| Registering for Events |
- I have a discount code, how do I use it?
| If you have received a discount code, start by going to the event detail page and click the "Sign Up" link on that page. Next, log in with your email address and password, or if its your first time registering for an event click the "Create an Account" link at the top of the log in window.Once logged in you will be presented with a page which displays the event details, pricing and the available payment options. On this page find the price near the top of the page and you will find a "Promo Code" box just below it. To apply your discount code, enter the code exactly as it was given to you in the box and click the "Apply" button. Assuming you have entered the code correctly the page will refresh and the price will be updated, you can then select your method of payment and complete the registration process.If you receive an error when applying the discount code, please double check you have entered the code exactly as provided and try again. If you continue to have problems please don't hesitate to contact us for assistance. |
- Can I apply more than one discount code to a single registration?
| Sorry, like most businesses we can only allow on discount code to be applied to a single registration, this includes the automatic discount applied for early registration. If you apply a discount to an event which is already discounted our system will apply the discount which provides the greatest savings, the other code will be ignored. |
- Can I register and pay for my friends?
| Absolutely. On the page where you select your method of payment you will find a button on the right side of the page just across from the event price labelled "Add a spot for friends". Clicking this button will allow you to register and pay for yourself and up to 10 friends at the same time.Please take time and prepare before registering your friends, you will need their full names and an email address in order to register them. This information is necessary so we can add your friends to the guest list and inform them when the selection process has started after the event. |
- I've joined the mailing list but the site doesn't accept my email address to register for an event?
| Our mailing list is separate from our member accounts, if you have joined our mailing list and would like to register for an event you will need to create a member account. Our system will automatically delete the mailing list account when you finish creating your member account so that you don't receive multiple copies of emails. |
- Why should I register in advance?
| There are a number of reasons why pre-registering for an event is the best option:* This is the only way we can reserve a spot for you at the event. Many of our events sell out before the date of the event so if you didn't register and showed up at the event you could be turned away. Many of our events have a specific number of tables available to us and though we would love to accommodate more participants it is not always possible.* We occasionally offer discounts for some of our events, these discounts are available only to those who pre-register, discounts are not available to walk-ins.* Speed Dating events function based on a balance between men and women, pre-registration allows us to ensure that we have the correct balance and that you get the most for your money. If we have a number of men or women walk into an event that we aren't expecting it would cause an imbalance that would make the event less enjoyable for all.* Because we rely on a balance of men and women, if we do not receive an appropriate number of registrations we have no choice but to cancel the event. Often when we're forced to cancel events we hear from customers who had wanted to attend the event but wanted to pay at the door, unfortunately had they pre-registered we would have been able to run those events.* On occasion situations arise at the venue where an events is scheduled which forces us to alter the time of the event or change the location to an alternate venue. Since we don't know who is planning to pay at the door we are unable to notify you of such a change or if the event is cancelled.* Pre-registration allows us to properly plan our events, and allow the venues to prepare for us as well. Knowing how many participants will be attending ensures that we have the correct number of hosts at the event and that the venue has appropriate bar staff available to serve our customers.All-in-all, pre-registration is what allows us to run our events in the most professional manner and create events that provide the best possible experience for all participants. |
- I'm trying to register but my email address isn't recognized. Why not?
| If this is your first time registering for a New York EasyDates event you will need to create a Member account on our site. Creating an account is easy and only takes about a minute, to create an account visit the details page of the event you wish to attend and click the "Sign Up" link.A log-in window will appear asking for your email address and password, as this is your first time, look at the top line of text and click the link which reads "Create an Account", this will take you to the account creation page.Once you have entered the necessary account details your account will be created and you can proceed with the registration for your chosen event. |

- Can I host an NYED event at my venue?
| Yes! We are always looking for new venues to work with. We've built long term relationships with many bars and restaurants (in some cases, more than 6 years and 200 events!), and it's our aim to bring as many young single professionals through your door as possible. And we like to come in during a night and time that suits you, so that you're getting extra drinks sales at a time when you would otherwise be quiet. | In most cases this is simply due to your internet browser displaying an older cached copy of the "My Events" page. - Does your website work with mobile phones?
| Our website has been designed to work with the majority of mobile smart phones including the iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry (including the new Torch/9800), Nokia as well as phones running Android, Symbian and Windows Phone 7 operating systems.We have designed our registration and billing system to support mobile phones so you can register for events from your phone or mobile device.Our Member's Area is still undergoing reconstruction, but you should be able to make selections and view your matches using your mobile device without problems. |
- What browsers does your website support?
| Like most websites today, our site is designed to function in all of the current versions of the most popular internet browsers. We have specifically tested our site in the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome as well as many older versions of each of these browsers.If you find a problem with our website we would appreciate if you would let us know.
